Cooking classes

Hello! Here again to post overdue photos! We had a couple of classes which involved food during class few months/ weeks ago. Haven had the time to blog/ and post the pictures so here they are!!
First up: Serving awareness class for Child's Health and Nutrition Module
We have to get the correct amount of food to make a serving for a child. And from the ingredients prepare a meal, we made a sandwich, a plate of pasta together with a banana. Struggled a little to get the correct amount cos the teacher gave us really BIG bowls.. hehe. Managed to get it eventually with the help of other classmates. Only Brenda, Aisha and I were present for that lesson in our group that day, S decided to go home. We should be happy that there was food to eat during class however, the class was after lunch... Imagine how much we ate, we had 2 lunches. LOL.

Hi!

I want food!

Next: Butter and ice cream making during Environmental Awareness class!
Actually we had a peanut butter making class before this, but i didn't managed to take pictures. Thinking back, that was really my favourite lesson. We got to feast on Nutella and class-made peanut butter with bread! Such a fabulous combination, and i feel that the food was extraordinarily delicious when you have it together with your classmates!! haha, we had the super atas purple potato chips too, as well as some interesting dried broccoli. It was pure happiness i tell you. haha. Okay
So next, we were taught to make butter and ice cream! It was really interesting to make your own butter. Just put some whipped cream in an empty bottle and shake it up and down vigorously, and walla, you get a chunk of unsalted butter as well as some buttermilk. :) Can really consider making it with the children. The butter tasted so good with the addition of garlic spices. And good to spread on crackers or bread. Yums!
Then, we made ice cream, without an ice cream maker! All you need is milk (flavoured/ full cream), loads of ice, salt, 2 zip lock bags and some towels. We had to pour milk into a smaller zip lock bag and seal it tightly. Next, add ice cubes and salt into a bigger zip lock bag. Subsequently, put the bag of milk into the bag of ice and wrap the bag of ice with the towels. Then, you 'massage' it all over for some time, maybe 15 minutes? and walla, home made ice cream!! However, I didn't really like the ice cream la, it tasted exactly like milk, DUH... but no choice, we didn't use ice cream maker or other ice cream making ingredients. Hence, gotta bear with it. But still, the learning process matters! Plus all the fun we had!! :)) Teehee! Thats all, see you next time!
This is our class-made butter!
