Dined at Ootoya Japanese Restaurant twice last week with my sisters!! Its newest branch was just opened in Clementi Mall, yipee!! i was so excited to dine there after seeing reviews of the restaurant. hehe. and finally, it came to Clementi to my convenience!! Hoho!! Yup, and my sisters and I like the food they serve there. Simple and delicious, the prices are affordable too.
First visit was with Jie jie. Our orders: Grilled chicken salad with Basil sauce set and Kimuchi Pork set. We liked what we ordered! Jie even had a second helping of rice!! Yes! They refill rice and green tea for free! :)) The rice served was short grain rice I suppose, and not long grain rice (or mixed). hehe. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, the miso soup was super awesome. According to jie, red miso was used instead of white miso therefore the difference in taste. May be awful/ awesome to different people.. lol. generous amount of ingredients were used in cooking the soup too, there's pork, leek, kelp in the soup. Nice!! Together with 2 vegetable side dishes, the set is complete!!

Second trip: With Jie jie and Mei mei!! the 3 of us met for lunch together on a Saturday afternoon! This time, the restaurant was super crowded, haha, of course, it was a weekend!! We were excited to try more new food!! And luckily we did not have to wait for long for seats in the restaurant. the service was slower in comparison to the previous visit due to the crowd.
Our orders this time: Grilled Mackerel set, Soba and mini grilled chicken rice bowl set and a pork set
Unfortunately, I did not really enjoy the mackerel set which I ordered :( I did not adore the taste of the fish, it's probably only me. Still managed to polish it off with the help of my sisters though :) And the pork set was delicious, the gravy was so appetizing with rice! All of us finished our rice and had 1 bowl of refill!! hehe, it was too good!! After our mains, we ordered a banana parfait to share!! Delicious I must say! i could finish one myself. haha.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience having our meals at Ootoya. Would certainly return back for more! :)) Whee!!
Will be heading to school soon for a 4 hours lecture.. And to submit an assignment! While my sister has no school due to the election thingy, how fortunate.. Gotta go, bye!!
